In addition to the subjects outlined in the Australian Curriculum we also offer Religious Education.

We hope that Religious Education is more than a subject in that it guides our community and permeates all that we do at St Matthew's. We also have a range of activities designed to enhance and balance our curriculum and provide as much opportunity as we can for the children in our care. To support the work of classroom teachers we have specialist staff in the areas of Physical Education, Music, LOTE (Spanish in Years 5 & 6), Learning Support (including enrichment), Library, Curriculum Development and Information & Communication Technology (ICLT).

Since 2011 we have been progressively engaging in the new Australian curriculum beginning with Mathematics & English in 2011 and Science in 2012. Trinity Sundayhttp://www.stmatthews.qld.edu.au/latest-news/Pages/Trinity-Sunday.aspxTrinity Sunday
<span style="font:400 14px/24.08px sans-serif, arial, verdana, "trebuchet ms";text-align:left;color:#333333;text-transform:none;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;text-decoration:none;word-spacing:0px;float:none;display:inline !important;white-space:normal;orphans:2;font-size-adjust:none;font-stretch:normal;background-color:transparent;">During the season of Easter, we celebrate some of the most important events and beliefs within the Catholic tradition. This week we celebrate the central doctrine of faith the Trinity, that is the belief that there are three ‘persons’ in the one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In Sunday’s Gospel Jesus instructs the disciples to baptise ‘in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit’ According to legend, St Patrick used the shamrock in his preaching to help explain the Trinity.

St Matthews Village Hubhttp://www.stmatthews.qld.edu.au/latest-news/Pages/St-Matthews-Village-Hub.aspxSt Matthews Village Hub
We are proud to introduce a new initiative into our St Matthew's community: The St Matthew's Village Hub. The traditional African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child" has been widely quoted when examining the partnerships required during the maturation of our youth. Our 'village' has never been more necessary than it is today. We live in a fast-paced, instant information and pressure-packed world. Today's children are faced with a myriad of both challenges and opportunities. Navigating parenthood can be a daunting undertaking – partnerships and supports are welcome and necessary to prepare our students for tomorrow. At your school we are eager to be active partners: our mission is to prepare students for tomorrow through Faith, with Knowledge and in Love. We have taken this concept and created a 'Village' for you to access in the time leading up and into your child's schooling years. 2018 is the first year the 'Village Hub' will be in operation at our school and we are very excited to see our doors open.

Our 'Village' is here to support you wholly: spiritually, mentally and physically on your journey from birth and into school. We are looking to create community events, and workshops that will be of assistance to you, your child/ren and your family. These will be around school readiness, early literacy and numeracy skills, parenting and discipline workshops, healthy eating and meal creation, social (without the media) events, spirit feeding events and seminars and supporting you to develop a relationship with God. We are wanting to take this wherever you need it to go, so, your feedback is important to us. I am eager to hear your thoughts, wants, needs and desires, so please email me, Olivia Feather at ofeather@bne.catholic.edu.au
