Sport and Physical Education

All children participate in the Physical Education Program at the school. If parents do not wish their child to participate in a particular activity for medical reasons written notification is required. The Physical Education Program aims at introducing the children to skills for games, dance, fitness and swimming. The children in the middle and infant classes concentrate on acquiring and developing a wide range of skills which can later be employed in specific sports, games and organised physical activity. Children in the upper school compete on a regular basis in team sports against other schools.

All students compete in athletics competition and in cross-country.

Music

The classroom music program is held once a week for students in all year levels. From Prep to Year 6, students are encouraged to develop their musical knowledge via a basic understanding of the various fundaments of music. An open minded approach to music appreciation is promoted with the study of a wide range of musical styles from a variety of different times and cultures.

Students are given the opportunity to develop their musical skills on real instruments, particularly on the ukulele and various classroom percussion instruments. Older students with a passion for singing and playing instruments are invited to attend a contemporary music group for lunchtime rehearsals twice a week.

LOTE: Spanish

The Spanish program is offered to students in Prep - Year 6. Students are engaged in one lesson for approximately 45 minutes per week.

The program consists of a combination of Spanish language and culture. The focus is on communication, so lessons are based on speaking and listening skills, as well as reading and writing, while becoming aware of the customs, traditions and celebrations of the people in some of the 20 or so countries around the world where Spanish is the official language.
