Our School

We warmly welcome you to St Matthew’s School and look forward to sharing in your child's education. We are proud of the fact that ours is a warm and welcoming school. St Matthew’s was established in 1984 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph, with fifty-seven students and just one building. Now with over 570 students, the school still strives to maintain the spirit of St Mary MacKillop, instilling in our students, strong Josephite characteristics of compassion, a sense of community and a desire to reach out to those in need.

Students come to St Matthew's from surrounding suburbs of Cornubia, Shailer Park, Carbrook, Loganholme and Tanah Merah. Most attend local early child care centres.
At St Matthew’s, we believe that education is a combined venture involving the child, parents, teachers and the entire school and parish communities. We acknowledge that children bring with them a wealth of knowledge, experience and understanding as well as enthusiasm and excitement for learning. We are mindful that they are also individuals who learn at differing rates and in different ways. We believe that children learn best when they actively participate in real-life experiences.

At St Matthew’s we are proud of our school’s story and continue to write new chapters each year. We hope this website gives you insight into our story.  We invite your family to become part of the St Matthew’s story.
